Helping our Customers

At a recent water damage the customer wanted us to detach all of the cabinet door faces because they are unable to order them any longer.  Of course with SERVPRO the customer is always the top priority.

Our crews spent time detaching the faces of the cabinets as requested and moving them to a dry area in the building so that they can be used again when needed.

Should you experience a water damage contact our office at 703-583-8484 to schedule a crew to come to your home to make it "Like it never even happened."

Using technology on the job

Using the latest technology allows SERVPRO teams to only remove what needs to be removed.  This photo shows one of our team members using a thermal imaging camera to show why the drywall was removed and the need for drying equipment.  The purple/dark areas are reflecting cold/wet.

We protect our customer's property

At a recent water damage our customer wanted us to make sure to protect the brick sidewalk from any damage occurring while picking up and dropping off the dumpsters.  Our crews picked up some plywood and laid it down on the driveway to make sure the roll-off driver had guides to keep the wheels of the dumpster off the brick sidewalk.

Flu Shot Week Dec 2-8

Starting in 2005, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) established the National Influenza Vaccination week “to highlight the importance of continuing flu vaccination through the holiday season and beyond.”People with high risk of complications from the flu include young children, pregnant women, people with certain chronic health conditions and people over the age of 65, and should get vaccinated. Although anyone is at risk of getting the flu, for high-risk people, hospitalization or death is more likely than for others.
According to the CDC, “flu vaccination can reduce flu illnesses, doctors’ visits and missed work/ school due to flu, as well as prevent flu related hospitalizations.” Get a flu shot today to protect yourself and your loved ones.

Be prepared to weather the storm with the FEMA App.

This app allows you to get National Weather Service alerts for up to five locations to keep you informed on-the go. It also has information on what to do before, during, and after different disasters. In the midst of an emergency, the app can give you directions to open shelters nearby, help you locate someone to talk to at a Disaster Recovery Center, and let you share images of damage and recovery efforts to help first responders and emergency managers.

This app is available to download for free for iOS and Android at the Apple Store and on Google Play.

Warning vs. Watch

Do you know the difference between a severe weather watch vs. a warning?

Watch: conditions are favorable for severe weather and it is possible. Remain alert for possible further warnings.

Warning: severe weather has been spotted or indicated by radar. Take cover.

Smoke Webs

These really are not cobwebs you missed when you were cleaning.  Residues from burning plastics or the soot from furnace disorders, form long chains of ionized smoke particles that assemble in corners or at junctions of walls and ceilings which are called smoke webs!

Need to keep your business open?

A small water damage occurred from a window left open at this Prince William County business. A small portion of the main lobby was affected. SERVPRO Dale City/Lake Ridge crews were able to install a containment barrier, using plastic, tension poles and painters tape. The containment barrier allowed the business to stay open while the drying equipment ran and kept the staff and customers safe.

Hurricane Season 2017 Is Here!

Hurricane season is currently underway. For the Atlantic, the season begins June 1 and runs through November 30.The Eastern Pacific hurricane season began in mid-May and also ends November 30.

Hurricanes can be life-threatening as well as cause serious property-threatening hazards such as flooding, storm surge, high winds, and tornadoes. While the primary threat is in coastal areas, many inland areas can also be affected by these hazards, as well as by secondary events such as power outages as a result of high winds and landslides due to rainfall.

Preparation is the best protection against the dangers of a hurricane. Plan an evacuation route and your emergency plan, take inventory of your property, and take steps to protect your home or business.

For more information and preparation tips, visit the Ready campaign website at www.ready.gov/hurricanes.

Ultrasonic Cleaning Available

With Ultrasonics no scrubbing or abrasive chemicals are necessary.  Objects are submersed in a specially formulated solution.  Sound waves pass through the solution and lift away soot, smoke and odor.  The process is much more efficient and effective than any other known means.

On the Job

Our amazing crews can even clean the carpet in your business making it smell nice and fresh or get rid of a stain from a spill.  The service can even be done during non-business hours.  Call 703-583-8484 to arrange an appointment.

Why did they use an Air Scrubber?

Air scrubbers help protect the health of workers and building occupants by providing a clean and healthy environment. They also limit the airborne particles being disrupted relocating to other areas.

If these contaminants are not removed, they will have a negative effect on the indoor air quality (IAQ) of the worksite. While naturally occurring particles, such as human skin cells, animal hair, and dirt, are nearly always present, toxic gases released by sewage-borne bacteria and mold spores can cause adverse human health effects when inhaled. In short, these contaminants can compromise the quality of the entire restoration job.

On the Job

Our crews utilize containment barriers in many situations.  Barriers can be used to make a space smaller so that the area will dry quicker and they are also used during jobs with contaminants that can spread such as mold or sewage smells.

On the Job

Our amazing Sales Professionals attend Business Network International (BNI Connect) meetings every week to develop and maintain long-term meaningful relationships with other business professionals.  When customers request a referral for another company, our Sales Professionals are able to confidentially refer another business.

Mold due to rain coming through siding

For mold growth to begin only two things are required; a food source (drywall, carpet, etc.) and water.  Be sure to check your newer or older home after storms to make sure water did not come in through unsuspecting areas; such as, siding, windows, and fireplaces.

Checking for Moisture

One of our crew members checking for moisture at a local Woodbridge home.  Our crews come out daily and check the drying progression of the affected areas, at your home or business, to help get you back to "Like it never even happened." as quickly as possible!

Be Prepared!

Storm season is upon us!  Be sure to take these hints and protect your home and property by taking the necessary precautions.

  • Gutters & Drains cleaned and free of debris
  • Repair roof damage
  • Window wells are cleaned and free of debris
  • Sump pump in good working condition
  • Remove dead trees from property

These are just a few ways storms can damage your home!

Check Hidden Areas for Mold

Mold can hide between wall cavities, under cabinets and other hidden areas.  It is always better to call SERVPRO Professionals to assess after a water damage has occurred to keep you home safe for you and your family!

SERVPRO Cares!

Just when you thought that there was no way that you could get your property restored as soon as possible. SERVPRO Dale City/Lake Ridge guarantees to have it look "Like it never even happened."

Containment

Everywhere in the house was affected by a hot water heater.  The tenant residing in the home did not tell the landlord.

Lucky for them, SERVPRO Dale City/Lake Ridge was able to perform remediation, all the mold was removed and the home is safe for rental again.

Extreme Heat Safety Tips to Prepare Your Home:

  • Install window air conditioners snugly; insulate if necessary.
  • Check air-conditioning ducts for proper insulation.
  • Install temporary window reflectors (for use between windows and drapes), such as aluminum foil-covered cardboard, to reflect heat back outside.
  • Weather-strip doors and sills to keep cool air in.
  • Cover windows that receive morning or afternoon sun with drapes, shades, awnings, or louvers. (Outdoor awnings or louvers can reduce the heat that enters a home by up to 80 percent.)
  • Keep storm windows up all year.

Congratulations!!

Our team won the very prestigious, Soaring Eagle Award, at the Contractor Connection Convention this past week.  This award recognized our team for Superior Member Service, Quality and Partnership.

Deep Frying a Turkey?

Are you deep frying a turkey this week?  Please remember these tips...

  • Turkey fryers can easily tip over, spilling hot cooking oil over a large area
  • An overfilled cooking pot will cause cooking oil to spill when the turkey is put in, and partially frozen turkey will cause cooking oil to splatter when put in the pot.
  • Even a small amount of cooling oil spilling on a hot burner can cause a large fire.
  • Without thermostat controls, deep fryers can overheat oil to the point of starting a fire.
  • The sides of the cooking pot, lid and pot handles can get dangerously hot!

SERVPRO of Dale City/Lake Ridge wishes you and your family a safe and happy holiday!
